As companies begin to expand and global markets become more accessible, these companies begin to utilize more land and more natural resources which contributes to environmental decline.

An example of this is the Almond Company, which now has to import bees from over seas because they are unable to locate enough local bees to pollinate a sufficient amount their crops. This is a company that has faced more world wide demand for their goods in markets such as China, the Middle East, Africa, Germany, and South America. This has an effect on bee populations because bees are not receiving a properly diverse diet.

In Kapitiya, Sri Lanka there were dozens of dolphins dead from illegal fishing practices. This northwest coast is a popular tourist destination and the Sri Lanka's Fisheries Ministry has claimed that it will not tolerate any illegal fishing methods because it will reduce the economic increase in Sri Lanka.
